The eighteenth volume of John Swift’s layout plans of the 1950s looks at the south western end of the Midland Railway lines following the Birmingham & Gloucester and Bristol & Gloucester Railway routes down the Lickey Bank and on to Bristol.
From Barnt Green we traverse the alternative route via Alcester and Evesham right through to Ashchurch and Malvern Wells. At Broom we encounter and follow the Stratford-on-Avon and Midland Junction line to Ravenstone Wood.
In Gloucestershire and Somerset we visit the branches to Stroud, Nailsworth, Dursley, Thornbury, Avonmouth and from Mangotsfield to Bath.
If you are not sure whether the location that interests you is in this volume or a different one, a combined index of all the locations in the series can be downloaded from our main web site entirely free of charge.
This is an A4 card covered book with, generally, more than 1 diagram per page.
