Barry Signal Box in South Wales, which closed in 2014, is comprehensively documented in this collection of videos created by FARSAP’s Rob Daniels.

Barry - A Life Story

This film documents Barry’s railway history in considerable detail. The story begins with the creation of Barry Docks and its railways in the 1880s and describes the various signal boxes which served the lines. The story continues through two world wars, right up to the closure of Barry’s final operational signal box, Barry Station, in 2014.

The Barry Interview

Retired signalmen Bob Bowyer and Brian Rolfe talk about their railway careers at Barry and other signal boxes in South Wales. The interview took place on 3rd January 2014 at Barry Station signal box and the video is in three parts.

3. Cardiff to Porthkerry.
