Manchester Metro opened in 1992 with highly automated signalling.

Included was a facility for the tram driver to trigger road traffic lights in his favour in the on-street running sections.

1913 1:2,500 map shows track again labelled Leckethill Siding. Formation has been crossed by new line from Bedlay Junction, and eastward over the reinstated tramway to Bedlay Colliery as shown on 1914 1:10,560 map.
1957 & 1967 1:10,560 maps show Leckethill Siding devoid of track.
